POST 152 ABOUT LIFE

Greetings  A wonderful and great Life to you and yours.  Have you ever wondered what life is? Many people just go to work, go home either to their families, partners, communities or alone. Life to some is a treadmill of daily routine with a holiday or break here or there. Some who have more resources may go world viewing, constant parties, cruise ships, some maybe in monasteries / convents, even cave dwellers, some for six months in space with no gravity on the ISS, some in prison and so on.

Maybe its to hard for some people to research deeply into the mystery of Life. Why am I here? Who am I? What is the purpose for the Universe and all that stuff out there? Am I one with the Stars, I'm told I came from or am made of the same stuff as they are.  Its all too much for me, I'll die one day, so have a good time and live for the now. The pub, the holiday, a good day out, my holiday abroad, my wife and kids and especially my 'jam jar'(cockney slang for car-- me wheels, me banger).

Then there is the philosophical view and some scientific stuff. We go deeper, some feel life is the opposite of death or vice versa, some feel birth and death are opposites and Life has no opposites.  Some feel one survives after the death of the body and then goes into a spirit form an energy form, then perhaps reincarnation.  Others feel one is judged and goes either to heaven or hell.  Then others shrug and couldn't care less and say 'you'll find out when it happens'.

Is life just a physical experience, just as the forms above depict. Is there an essence beyond the form, something that is felt and yet not tangible to the physical senses? If so how does one get to it, and is it not just a comfort thought---I survive in some form---this means I am aware at all times of my being in some experience even if I am not in an Earth type body.

A few pathologist I knew felt it was just the survival of the fittest, the intelligent gene or a book by Richard Dawkins 'the selfish Gene' or

Part of your intelligence may be written in your genes, scientists believe Photo: ALAM
Another scientist felt  that when the body expired there was oblivion and we all went back to a kind of inert compost heap. The question of intelligence was explained that when the first cells divided an electrical current was set up, this is the beginning of intelligence, this provided the fuel for evolution.
However the first primitive organisms possibly from space landed on this molten planet, began to search instinctively for food, and so for survival began to team up, work together, and their collective experiences pooled, so by experiencing the obstacles a learning type memory was set up, this became stored and so by the years going by it expanded and eventually caused by its expanded knowledge new forms and so on, eventually us, and as the primitive organism diversified, they became the various life forms as above in the influence99k image.  So Intelligence kind of evolved itself, no creator just a mishap from the Universe which was an accident, it came from a big bang which also had no creator. I like the logic.

Now is the hour '"Now Is the Hour" is a popular song, though often described as a traditional Māori song. It is usually credited to Clement Scott, Maewa Kaihau & Dorothy Stewart.
Maori words:
Po atarau
E moea iho nei.......
English words:
Now is the hour,
when we must say goodbye...
Perhaps now is the hour to look at these questions of our existence and not shrug off our reluctance, or make excuses, these are questions for the intellectual, after all who am I to lock horns with those academics?  Well we all have a right to our opinions so they say.  When we say like Sir Fred Hoyle
Would you not say to yourself, "Some super-calculating intellect must have designed the properties of the carbon atom, otherwise the chance of my finding such an atom through the blind forces of nature would be utterly minuscule. A common sense interpretation of the facts suggests that a superintellect has monkeyed with physics, as well as with chemistry and biology, and that there are no blind forces worth speaking about in nature. The numbers one calculates from the facts seem to me so overwhelming as to put this conclusion almost beyond question."
—Fred Hoyle[
The concept of nucleosynthesis in stars was first established by Hoyle in 1946. This provided a way to explain the existence of elements heavier than helium in the universe, basically by showing that critical elements such as carbon could be generated in stars and then incorporated in other stars and planets when that star "dies". The new stars formed now start off with these heavier elements and even heavier elements are formed from them. Hoyle theorized that other rarer elements could be explained by supernovas, the giant explosions which occasionally occur throughout the universe, whose temperatures and pressures would be required to create such elements.
— William Fowler Nobel Prize Scientist (how did the atars and all that get there in the first place?)

The universe begins to look more like a great                                 thought than a great machine.
Sir James Jeans
So if we pluck up courage let us go deeper, let us explore what we have so far, everything may have come from space, micro organisms that have the instinctual intelligence that came from either a big bang or just arrived. Intelligence begat itself from nothing only from a micro organism that spontaneously spawned Itself without rhyme or reason, and if Sir James is correct who thought what and how did this original thought come into existence?

So I come from a big bang. What caused the big bang? An accident some say, what caused the accident? There has to be a cause? Does there?.

Perhaps we might look at this another way from another angle.  I know I exist, whether it be dream or so called reality.  I experience myself. What if the Universe is a dream of a dreamer, a nameless being, obviously not a flesh one. OK what about stars exploding and from the dust they produce other stars, what about the seasons all seems to  cyclic, reincarnation of some sort. Yes OK what set these wheels within wheels going?  We either accept a cause albeit unknown, or a causeless cause causing something. Presumably from nowhere into somewhere.

As we may sit and contemplate as above, we may in that stillness enquire---Is it necessary to know how we and everything else came into existence? One reply maybe that if we find in ourselves an answer it may make the world a better place to live in. Sometimes sitting still like this brings a peace and calm with a feeling of compassion, this alone can better the human lot.
OK so be it I feel calmer and yet I am puzzled. When I look at a anything outside it is composed of form, seemingly solid, yet I know from science this far from reality. Yet I hang onto form because I can touch, feel, see, understand, smell it, comprehend it. Yet I know this is so I cannot quite grasp it.  The emptiness and distance between particles, atoms and so on. So what does that do to my life and existence?

It seems I come up with more questions than answers. So I suppose another reason for this non real reality to be significant for living, is that it is impermanent, transient and so why hoard and so on? Well hoarding, accumulating, why is it so important, it gives a sense of solidness, a platform, and a buffer from death and being finite. It also in the light of the vastness of out there, the massive galaxies, seemingly infinite, not so say some scientists the Universe will shrink or expand so much either way as to come back to point zero as in science blogs image above, that it will either implode or explode and it all starts again.  Again without cause or Intelligence, or an Intelligence not born from Intelligence but acquired by an accident. Sort of I picked up information on the way where there was no information to start with. Oh Boy.
The awesome emotion is like the astronaut awe and incredulity
Its too big for the limited mind, a mind bound by limits.  Limits imposed by conditioning.  Limited concepts, brain washed, indoctrinated, programmed, radicalised by academia, robotised and stultified.
One desperately tries find a solution, a  mathematical solution, a compromise, we rush madly around the library of our total graphics in our mind, conjugating, duplicating, enhancing, embellishing, juxtaposing, improvising----oh heck I am tired, I give up, I don't know, I am overwhelmed.  This fear is not knowing, feeling unsafe, and yet insecurity used wisely leads us to a knowing far beyond thought and understanding.

It is in the giving up that one may 'find the answer', the answer is not a definite, it is more a deep inner knowing so deep and confirming that there is no room for doubt.  You know Geoff I have heard this before. A fanatic also can have a belief so strong that there is no room for doubt and yes Geoff you may say they are different in quality and in a mind scan on MRI they may show different parts of the brain. However we are back in form and tangibility. Is it all the mind?
Let us now look at Astrophysics and see the very large as we gaze from the sand on the beach to the milky way.  All seems solid, there real, although we know the quantum stuff. We know about seasons, ecological cycles, we may even accept an elementary type of reincarnation----yet the burning question remains---how did it all start and who started it?  I seem so far away and yet so near.  After all I am part of it.

I can't find God out there, where would he be? A massive Black Hole, the Centre of the Universe, if he is one place, how can he be everywhere? If I am built in his image, I die, I feel small, limited mortal. OK I look inwards to Quantum stuff and what do I see, I am nothing, an enigma, an observer, not that's not true, a consciousness, what does that mean, after all Einstein and Bohr couldn't figure it out--- so how the heck can I.

TThe plain fact is that there are no conclusions. If we must state a conclusion, it would be that many of the former conclusions of the nineteenth-century science on philosophical questions are once again in the melting-pot.
'The stream of human knowledge is heading towards a non-mechanical reality. The universe begins to look more like a great thought than a great machine. Mind no longer appears to be an accidental intruder into the realm of matter. We are beginning to suspect that we ought rather to hail it as the creator and governor of this realm'.  Sir James Hopwood Jeans
Here we go again where did the thought come from, there must have been a mind and that means a brain?  Well if one looks into quantum stuff then if we accept an observer and it seems that many experiments would show this, then this observer is you, me , us. When we observe we all use awareness, so awareness is out true nature. Awareness only becomes individualistic when it shines through the slide plates of conditioning, otherwise it is pure light.

Let us say for example that light is awareness as above and the panes are the network of conditioning and so on, then imagine that these panes contain graphics and information, so the light used throws light onto the mind screen and one's chosen subjects, thoughts, emotions become alive, and are in fact you. Your body fits the thoughts projected. Now let us play with this and say the panes blot out some of the Cosmic graphics, that which would give us information from the COMIC SOURCE then we would obtain first hand knowledge, information and our minds would be one with source. WE WOULD KNOW WHO CREATED GOD AND WHY.
OF course one would say there is no God and the counter argument has always prove or disprove it.  The point is ONE WOULD HAVE TO DISSOLVE ALL THE PANES to know this. This would leave us empty, and some fear a mindless, hapless vegetable.  However this is an assumption which if one has not experienced this cannot really argue against. YES they can argue from their CONDITIONING  from their learnt and programmed knowledge.

This we see laid in science, religion and politics.  It becomes so ingrained that anything outside the box becomes taboo, and those that do question it often lose their jobs and become ostracised.

Here we see the brainwashing through the media, what the papers say, the scientists say, the doctors say, the politicians say, the priests say, the atheists say, my superior and peers say MUST BE TRUE ISN'T IT?   How can the clear light shine through this? Question, search, quest and see if the shutters, the panes in the mind can dissolve. Some are needed for every day practical living.

When suddenly the mind goes quiet, not sleepy, a calm is experienced, a sharp brightness is experienced, one does not seem to be in bodily awareness and yet is, then a different kind or sense of energy floods one, and serious questions of origin and being are known, as if an internal quiet voice was imparting knowledge, then after a while if that is possible in this timeless realm, one realises one is this mind / voice, it speaks to oneself to oneself and one realises the unity of where, who, why, when and where--- and you know what it doesn't really mean anything at all.
I leave you with these koan's and Paradoxes and when your back sweats, when you yawn and fart and you shout eureka, ah ha!!! Then and only then will you know and you will say, oh is that all.
Be Sweaty. Be well.
